The mission of the Arthritis Foundation
is to support research to find
the cure for and prevention of arthritis
and to improve the quality of life
for those affected by arthritis.
About
the Arthritis Foundation:
The
Arthritis Foundation, Inc. and its subordinate
units were granted exemption under section
501 (c) (e) of the Internal Revenue Code
on December 21, 1978.
The
Arthritis Foundation provides services to
more than 190,000 locally and more than
70 million nationwide who are affected by
arthritis, many of whom are children.
The foundation has two main goals: 1) to
find a cure for and prevent the onset of
arthritis through research, and 2) to provide
local programs to improve the quality of
life for whose who have arthritis.
The Mid East Region supports five free clinics
in Florida for the medically indigent, as
well as the Boggy Creek Gang Camp (Orlando)
and Camp Funrise (Miami) for children with
juvenile rheumatic diseases.
In addition, the Mid East Region offers
Tai Chi exercise programs, PACE (People
with Arthritis Can Exercise) classes, aquatic
exercise classes at various locations, and
support groups for several types of arthritis.
